Poem: I Forgot to Ask Today

I Forgot to Ask Today

but maybe I can remember
tomorrow.  I intended to ask,
though I am embarrassed
at the need to be reminded,
I intended to ask,
because I need to know,
but I did not ask
and I am afraid
if I do not ask tomorrow
I will forget and forget
and my embarrassment will grow
and I will let it tell me
it is not worth asking, now,
it is too long.  It is important,
I know it is important.
I must not wait,
but if I do forget again,
it must not stop me.
You will understand,
I am certain.
