Poem: The Things That Were Said

The Things That Were Said

were only things said,
but I believed it was true,
believed it would be
as you said it would,
chose to do all these things
because I was certain
of what I had been told.
If it had not been said,
if I had not been told,
it would be otherwise.
What might I have done,
what choice
would have been made?
I cannot say at all,
but I know
I chose this,
I chose it.
I trusted
what was said.
It was only words,
and now I chose.
Because of you
and all you said
I made these choices.
I have no way back.
