Poem: He Tells Me It Will Take Hours

He Tells Me It Will Take Hours

if it even works.  He will try it,
will let it go again,
but it will take hours,
maybe all the night.
I must wait.  I will not know
if it has happened,
will be uncertain
if it is continuing
or has ceased in failure.
I will not know,
will not be able to know
until he tells me,
and I do not think
he cares so much
as I do.
