Poem: It Was Meant for You Alone

It Was Meant for You Alone

I am certain someone was listening,
though I have no good guess
for who it might have been,

but I am certain, could feel it,
could feel even in that moment
that ears were present, open,

listening.  I should not have spoken,
or should have spoken but said
nothing.  I knew.  I was certain.
