Poem: Why Ask?

Why Ask?

You ask me
what it is
I would prefer,

and I say
what I want,
my selection,

and then you
decide you
want the opposite,

and if I ask you
why you bothered
to ask my opinion,

why it is you
have pretended
that you care,

you will not see
what I mean,
will be angered

that I am unreasonable,
how could you know
I would want

what you did not
wish to offer
without asking?
