Poem: I Knew Them

I Knew Them

It happens, I knew them both,
had not seen him
in so many years,

and the other, well,
I saw him at the memorial,
which I only found by chance,

was there for other reasons
that were not connected,
and learned of it then,

though all that
is not the point:
I did know them,

both of them,
one through the other,
in a way, but

that is another story,
and not at all important.
I knew them both,

that is all, that is how.
If you had known them both
it would have been clear.
