Poem: Broken Metaphor

Broken Metaphor

Do not compare
these events to the past,
to those erstwhile atrocities
that come to mind
when considering
the situations of today,
do not state why
this is the same
as what was done then,
it is not anything
that is worth pointing towards,
placing the light upon it
does no good,
it is obvious already
to anyone who wishes
to notice, and any other
will be certain
this is different,
or will not care
that it is the same.
