Poem: Remember How Easy It Is Not to Notice

Remember How Easy It Is Not to Notice

that it was possible
for so long not to pay attention
to what has always been there,
to see that ignorance was made easy,
to see that it is important
it be made easy,
be made natural and normal
to not see it, to put it aside
for others to worry about,
because it is much easier
for it to continue
when it is not observed,
because, as well, of what it does
to those whose pain
is made invisible.
