Poem: What Would We Do If The Turtles

What Would We Do If The Turtles

had not carried
the saplings
of that first tree
across the globe?

They might not have,
feeling the roots,
the tickling growth
across their shells,
consider, of they had
dislodged them,
left them floating
in the ocean.

But the turtles,
they were kind,
carried the trees,
left them safe,
planted each forest,
then returned to the sea.
