Poem: Witnesses

Witnesses

It is unclear
what will be
or when
it will come
to be, but
what comes
now, what is
here before us
will be
our world
for some time,
will close in
upon us all.
When the world
returns to safety,
we will each
carry it,
will each be asked
who we knew
who is not here
that we
must speak for.
