Poem: That Cat Appeared Again

That Cat Appeared Again

I saw it today,
the black one that sits
by the road where it curves,
just near where it meets
the main street and ends.

I wanted to get out
to see if it would
be a friend, but
a car was coming
from behind, I

could not stop.  It
is probable the cat
would not have understood,
anyway, would have been
hostile, afraid.

I hope I see it again
soon, that I have
a chance to know
for certain if the cat
is unafraid enough to be loved.
