Poem: After Abandoning Another Half-Finished Poem

After Abandoning Another Half-Finished Poem

Oh, false start,
what a strange friend
you are, popping in
to excite me with
promises not kept,

and yet, the provocation,
the stir to unfinished
action, is quite enough
to wake my desire, so I
must prod inspiration,
get to work in earnest.
