Poem: Make Room Inside

Make Room Inside

where that tender thing
the world would wound
or steal may stay
unharmed as it grows
into strength,
that one day
a bloom might burst
forth, fragrant, bright,
prepared, finally
to thrive beyond
the shelter
that kept it safe
from storms,
that it may take root
in the earth, and meet,
at last, the sunshine.
